Global payments processing leader ACI Worldwide needed to expand its data center without shutting it down. Any outages or interruption to the data center could have costly consequences. Miller Electric devised a phased and coordinated approach for installing a new UPS distribution system to ACI’s data center without interruption of power to equipment already in service. Miller Electric relied on its expertise in BIM and CAD services to coordinate the installation with existing mechanical and structural components. 3D design and pre-fabrication of conduit runs off site in Miller’s prefab shop and complete installation and testing prior to tie-in enabled the installation to go off without a hitch.
Miller’s solution included the installation of:
- One 1750kW generator
- Three distribution switchboards
- Two 750kva UPS systems
- Two 800kva power distribution units
“Coming from a customer perspective, the 3D BIM was amazing. We had not had an opportunity to be involved with this new technology until it was used here in our Data Center buildout. It was very impressive to see what the final project would look like prior to completion and be able to follow the progress on a day to day basis… I have had nothing but compliments on the work that was done in our facility and enjoy showing it off.”
